Elizabeth Driay-Nishati#1/ Heather Bellin, what is the best time you can remember in your career?
When I started my HR career at the age of 42. I had worked in sales and marketing management for nine years and then, after having my children, I became a private coach and also a voluntary bereavement counsellor. For me, starting a position in HR meant I was able to draw on all the various skills I had acquired from all those roles, and use them in one job – just perfect!

#2/ If you had to give just one piece of advice to a junior starting out in their career, what would it be?
If you don’t know from the outset what you want to do, try a few different roles until you figure out what is right for you, and don’t worry about what it looks like on your CV, as long as you can sell the concept. Be realistic with your personal goals, be true to yourself, and make sure that both your job and your working environment have you leaping out of bed in the morning raring to go!

#3/ Do you have a Motto/Lucky charm?
No, I just believe in fate.

#4/ What do you enjoy the most in your day-to-day work?
People, people, people, people!

#5/ If you had to do it all again, would you choose the same career path?
Absolutely yes!

#6/ Where is your favourite place on earth, and why?
It doesn’t really matter where, as long as I am in close proximity to water – strange for a Taurean!

#7/ How would you classify your relationship with Ampersand World?
It took a while to get going but now it’s good; Penda and I are on completely the same wavelength and that really helps.
